Thank you for visiting my webpage. My name is Mr. Tony Quan and this is my third year at QISS!
I am from Los Angeles, California and moved to China in 2014. I love traveling and teaching!
I am an upper school math and science teacher. My grandparents were born in Hainan and Hong Kong and migrated to Vietnam, where my parents were born. They then moved to the United States in the mid to late 70s. I was born and raised in southern California and spent most of my life in Long Beach. However, I did live in St. Kitts and Nevis island for roughly a year in 2009.
I went to college at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, where I obtained my degree in Animal Science. I have always been passionate about the field of Life Sciences, particularly in genetics and zoology. Throughout college, I worked as a veterinary technician and mentor at a hospital in Pomona, California for four years. I then volunteered at the American Language Center at UCLA in 2013 and discovered my passion for teaching. At the same time, I felt gravitated towards my family’s roots and wanted to experience the culture first-hand. This led me to come to Shijiazhuang, China in 2014, where I taught English and Life Sciences. Although I immediately felt at home in China, I soon realized that I had a lot to learn about this country’s culture and society. So far, I have been enjoying every moment of my time in Qingdao!
During my spare time, I enjoy hiking, reading, painting, traveling, trying different foods, camping, canoeing, and spending time in nature. I consider myself to be an outgoing, optimistic, compassionate, responsible, honest, adventurous, and level-headed person.
